Founded in Zürich in 2009, CargoGMBH Logistics AG has grown from a five-person air freight broker into one of Switzerland's most trusted multimodal logistics groups — with 40+ offices and 2.4 million shipments per year.

CargoGMBH was founded by Marcus Heller and Elena Roth in 2009 after years working for two of Europe's largest freight forwarders. Their frustration was simple: too many handoffs, too little ownership, too many unanswered calls when things went wrong.

They built CargoGMBH around a single promise: one company, one number, full responsibility from collection to proof of delivery. No subcontracted mystery carriers. No excuses.

Fifteen years later, that principle still drives every decision — from how we hire to how we handle a late flight at 3am.

Our History

15 YEARS OF
GROWTH.

2009

Founded in Zürich

Marcus Heller and Elena Roth launch CargoGMBH with 5 staff and a single air freight license, operating from a small office in Zürich-West.

2011

Land freight expansion

CargoGMBH acquires a fleet of 12 trucks and launches pan-European road services, expanding the team to 45 and opening a second office in Geneva.

2014

Sea freight & Basel ICD

Partnership with Port of Rotterdam and opening of our Basel Inland Container Depot gives CargoGMBH full trimodal capability. FCL and LCL services launch to Asia and the Americas.

2016

IATA & AEO Certification

CargoGMBH receives IATA cargo agency accreditation and Authorised Economic Operator status, opening direct relationships with all major airlines.

2018

GDP Pharma certification

Following three years of investment in cold-chain infrastructure, CargoGMBH achieves GDP certification for pharmaceutical transport — our fastest-growing vertical.

2020

COVID-19 response

CargoGMBH operates as a designated essential freight carrier throughout the pandemic, delivering PPE and vaccines across Switzerland and Europe on behalf of federal and cantonal health agencies.

2022

Sustainability programme launch

CargoGMBH launches its Net-Zero by 2035 roadmap, deploys first 20 EV delivery vehicles and achieves carbon-offset status for all road freight operations.

2024

Singapore hub & global expansion

Opening of our 8,000 m² Singapore hub doubles APAC capacity. CargoGMBH now operates from 40+ direct offices across all major trade regions, with over 850 staff worldwide.
